Sevna Somuncuoğlu Received The “HasNa’s 2020 Peacebuilders of the Year" Award

Sevna Somuncuoğlu member of The Turkey Antenna of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network, received the “Peacebuilders of the Year” award given by HasNa.

Sevna Somuncuoğlu founded Demir Leblebi (Iron Nuts) Women’s Association in 2015, with a mission to work within the broader field of peacebuilding and conflict resolution, focusing primarily on women’s rights and creating a culture of peace.

Founded in 1998 in Washington DC as a nonprofit, HasNa Inc. has been bringing to gether communities diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds for over 20 years to collaborate on projects that improve their communities and relationships.

HasNa's mission is to facilitate understanding and reduce barriers to positive peace among communities divided on ethnic, religious, racial, and gender lines. Since 2016, HasNa has been celebrating every International Day of Peace on September 21 by awarding that year's peace builders. The winners of the Peace Builder of the Year Award, given in consideration of their work in removing obstacles to positive peace, also become a part of the team by providing consultancy to HasNa's work.
